Chairman’s Annual Report

Welcome to the 3rd AGM of Portgordon Community Harbour Group.

First of all I wish to express my thanks and those of the Committee for the hard work by all concerned at the fantastically successful Gala last year. It will have been noticed that we are gradually acquiring our own equipment for these occasions, tents, signage, bunting etc. This is all an indication of the commitment we have towards fulfilling the dream of creating the development.

At the last AGM I said we were in talks with Price Waterhouse Coopers who we had hoped would help us produce the Business Plan. However we decided that it was too big a financial commitment for us to take on at this stage and therefore we elected to do it ourselves. Or rather I should say Bob Thomson undertook to do it and we must be grateful to him for all the effort he has put into producing the plan given that he has been working away from home and is still hard at it as Secretary for us from the delights of Afghanistan.

To help with the day to day Admin we took on board the services of Malcolm Smith as Assistant Secretary who has done an excellent job in progressing the Website and producing a booklet which we will be able to use when we achieve ownership.

The draft Business plan is here for anyone who wishes to have a look before it is presented to Crown Estates as is the Company accounts ably kept in order by our treasurer Doreen.

We are looking forward to the Gala and Raft race on 14th July with several new events and features and definitely one spectacle that has not been seen before.

I am confident that this time next year we shall be well on the way to achieving the goal we set out to do. I am confident that once the harbour is useable again it will soon be filled with all manner of boats. And I am also confident we have the team in place to carry the hopes of the village forward.

Ron Billing - Chairman
